]]>“I think OTT platforms are a godsend, any way you look at it. Whether you’re an artiste, technician, writer, or even for the audience, there’s no fear of you being elbowed out by a bigger film, or a bigger personality, or politics of film business,” he says.
Shorey was recently seen in the web show Sunflower, and he’s currently shooting for another one, besides an online chat show that’s also lined up.
The actor goes on to add that things get murkier when it comes to theatrical releases. “There are only limited number of theatres and limited number of shows, so that used to make the game quite dirty actually,” says the Khosla Ka Ghosla actor.
Given that streaming platforms give equal space to every film irrespective of the scale it’s made on, Shorey views them as democratic by their nature.

]]>OTT platform is celebrating the real talent as content now has become the hero which is a win-win situation for all. But makers need to be cautious as audience is too smart and aware. They are getting to watch Korean shows and international content, so our product has to be at par with their standard. Industry people now understand this and are working towards raising the bar a bit high,” says the actor.
Kumaar says the audiences now reacts instantly on social media and give their feedback. “The hate messages for Major Sameer in The Family Man-2 and Toofan and like messages for my role of Major Raunaq (Avrodh…) or sub-inspector Ujagar (Aashram) and this is what I was always yearning for. The real feedback be it hate or love texts — give me a boost that I did my job well. Initially, I used to be taken aback but now I have started enjoying such hate messages.”
He adds that throughout his career he has balanced well between negative (NH10, Baaghi2) and positive roles (Tere Naam, Mary Kom, Sarabjit).
The actor shares every role needs prep and hard work but playing a negative role demands more sweat and blood.
Before the second wave, he has completed two films one of which is with R Madhavan.

What does the 36-year-old feel about this? She says, “I don’t know if there is any reason for it. Any space which is changing constantly, there is bound to be something good and something bad. It is not possible that all content on OTT will be great. It is not true.”
Dugal feels that good content is still releasing, so viewers won’t feel any void. “If as an audience I watch six trailers, two-three will be interesting, that is a fairly good ratio. Good and bad both will exist. The reason, I am not sure if for some of the content not being promising, is the increase in demand,” the actor tells us.

]]>He adds: “When I went for Eid celebrations to my brother’s place yesterday (Thursday) for a bit, there was a social media table at the dining table. There were six people sitting on their phones seeing what they wanted to see and gathering information about something and the OTT platforms make it more personal.”
The actor, who found his lady love Pavitra Punia on the show, added: “You do not go on a community television at home and see a show… It’s not like that anymore. So, it (OTT) is personal and everything has to move. A show like Bigg Boss which sometimes has mature content should come on OTT and it is a good thing.”
Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, “City Of Dreams” also stars Atul Kulkarni, Priya Bapat and Sachin Pilgaonkar. It will be released on Disney+Hotstar.

]]>It has been wonderful as people are divide in two groups. Some say that, ‘you are looking hot’ and ‘what a great performance’ while others are say ‘Major Sameer murdabad, Hindustan zindabad’. Earlier, I had played earthy kind of roles, so people hadn’t seen me in modern roles. I am enjoying all of these emotions. Maybe people didn’t realise that I played an army office in Avrodh,” says the actor.
While other shows showcased him in a variety of roles, he admits that Aashram has been the cherry on the cake. The show’s popularity meant a wider audience watched his performance and he couldn’t be happier about it. “Meri life 360 degree change ho gayi. OTT platform has changed my life. Since the show, I’ve got offers for cop roles, lead roles in web shows and even parallel lead roles but I want to do a variety of roles and not just play a cop in the next few projects, so I have been choosing wisely. It has been hard turning them down. I am waiting for the right offers and touchwood, have got five excellent scripts in recent times. I have shot for a suspense thriller with Madhavan and another film with a big film studio,” shares Kumar, adding post unlock, what is frustrating is that everyone wants the same dates to shoot.
