Kherson is located in the south of Ukraine.</p>
<p>When hostilities in Ukraine rose, the Indian embassy in Kyiv launched a registration campaign for Indians in January, and by the end of the month, 20,000 Indians &#8211; largely students &#8211; had signed up. More than half the students were enrolled at colleges in eastern Ukraine, which borders Russia, according to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. So far, this region has been the focus of the war.</p>
<p>Till now, 22,500 evacuated from Ukraine, among which some were in isolated pockets and some don&#8217;t want to return.</p>

After Russia proclaimed a temporary truce from 10 a.m. on Tuesday (Moscow Time), India began rescuing its trapped people from Ukraine&#8217;s Sumy to Poltava under &#8216;Operation Ganga&#8217;.  The truce was implemented to build humanitarian corridors in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Mariupol.</p>
<p>Nine Bangladeshis were also rescued from Ukraine as part of the mission. It also attracted students from Nepal and Tunisia.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Saturday morning, three additional Air Force C-17 planes arrived in the nation, carrying Indians stranded in Ukraine back to India through Romania, Slovakia, and Poland. These planes set out on Friday evening carrying 16.5 tonnes of humanitarian supplies from India for war-torn Ukraine, where millions of people have been evacuated over the last week.</p>
<p>Under the government&#8217;s &#8216;Operation Ganga,&#8217; the Air Force has flown 10 planes to return 2,056 citizens to protection. A total of 26 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been supplied to Ukraine and its nearby countries, which are also impacted by the war. Special aircraft are being arranged to support the &#8216;Operation Ganga&#8217; effort to allow the free repatriation of trapped Indians from the conflict-torn country.</p>
