<p>On Tuesday, the state&#8217;s health and family welfare department issued an alert emphasizing the importance of surveillance and preparedness in the districts bordering Kerala: Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Mysuru, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar. The virus can be transferred to humans by animals (bats or pigs) or contaminated food, according to the World Health Organization.</p>

<p>Nipah virus has no therapy or vaccine available for humans or animals at this time. Supportive care is the primary treatment for humans.</p>

On August 24, a 23-year-old MBA student from Maharashtra was allegedly kidnapped by four men and her friend was assaulted near Mysuru&#8217;s Chamundi Hills. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Tuesday around 7.30 p.m., a young woman and her boyfriend arrived in Chamundi Hills, a popular tourist destination with a popular temple on the outskirts of Mysore. The pair ended up in the hospital with serious injuries at the end of the night. The young woman was allegedly gang-raped and beaten up by her buddy.</p>
<p>None of the men wanted for the incident had been found after more than 24 hours. The attackers are being sought by various police units, according to the authorities. When the couple refused to hand over money to a gang of men who followed them into the woods and surrounded them, the assault began.</p>
<p>When the pair refused, the group allegedly beat up the young man and raped the woman. According to the authorities, the student&#8217;s friend stood there helplessly while she was raped, unable to intervene. Around 1.30 a.m., they were brought to the hospital. The woman is a private college student.</p>
