										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The long-delayed project of four-laning the Mumbai-Goa highway has officially been given a deadline. The project would be finished by May 2023, as per state public works minister Ashok Chavan. The Mumbai-Goa highway, widely called NH-66, has been under construction for even more than a decade.</p>
<p>Pravin Darekar, the opposition leader in the state legislature, highlighted the subject of the construction through a drawing attention statement, asking for an update on its progress and a timeline for completion. The 471-kilometer expansion project began in 2011 and encompasses three districts: Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Workers have been switched since then in order to expedite the process.</p>

As the rain persisted, images of flooded streets, drowned automobiles, and stranded individuals surfaced from the state. For many days, heavy rain has pounded the Konkan area, forcing major rivers in Ratnagiri and Raigad regions to exceed their banks.</p>
<p>Numerous long-distance railroads on the Konkan Railway route have been halted, cancelled, or postponed. Around 6,000 people were stuck on trains that were stopped at several stations along the Konkan Railway line, according to rail officials.</p>
