<p>The fifth Test match between India and England in Manchester has been called off after a member of Team India&#8217;s support staff tested positive for Covid. The series&#8217; final game, which India leads 2-1, was scheduled to begin on Friday. This comes only days after Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, and R Sridhar were forced to skip the fourth Test at The Oval due to quarantine in London.</p>

<p>Though no players have tested positive, the possibility of the virus spreading further within the team cannot be ruled out because most of the cricketers were in close contact with the support personnel throughout the last Test. The entire team had undergone the RT-PCR test after the coaches&#8217; positive test last week. The member of the squad who tested positive on Thursday had previously tested negative.</p>

The game took place at the Stadion Miejski in Gdansk and was the first European final to be played in front of a crowd in two years amid the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>
<p>Gerard Moreno opened the scoring in the 29th minute by taking advantage of erroneous defending by the Reds. In the 55th minute, Edinson Cavani equalised for Man Utd after the ball got deflected by a defender.</p>
<p>The score stood 1-1 at the end of extra time, leading to penalties. Geronimo Rulli, the Villareal goalkeeper, scored from the spot and successfully denied his United counterpart, David De Gea, to secure the win for the Spanish outfit.</p>
