]]> On Thursday afternoon in Lucknow, a 40-year-old man identified as a Samajwadi Party worker tried self-immolation just outside of the Lok Bhawan, just across the UP Vidhan Sabha, police said. The man, named Narendra Singh, is a resident of Kanpur. Prior to the incident, the individual was said to have yelled campaign slogans. The man’s member card for the Samajwadi Party was discovered by the police.

He doused himself with combustible substance and lit himself on fire, as per authorities. Civilian clothes officers on the scene arrived quickly and extinguished the flames.

SHO of Hazratganj police station Narendra Singh was carried to the civic hospital in a police van, according to Shyam Babu Shukla. He suffered minor burns to his neck, face, and forearms, but he is unharmed.

]]> Twelve BJP MLAs were suspended from the Maharashtra legislative assembly for one year after the state government accused them of “misbehaving” with presiding officer Bhaskar Jadhav in the speaker’s chamber on Monday. A resolution was passed to suspend 12 MLAs for one year for abusing and manhandling the speaker in the chair.

The 12 suspended BJP MLAs are Sanjay Kute, Ashish Shelar, Abhimanyu Pawar, Girish Mahajan, Atul Bhatkalkar, Parag Alavni, Harish Pimpale, Ram Satpute, Vijay Kumar Rawal, Yogesh Sagar, Narayan Kuche and Kirtikumar Bangdia.

The two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra assembly got off to a stormy start today with leader of the opposition Devendra Fadnavis targeting the state government over an MPSC aspirant’s suicide and the short duration of the session.

The BJP leader demanded that House members be allowed to use all legislative tools to highlight various issues and all questions submitted be answered.

The motion to suspend the MLAs was moved by state Parliamentary affairs minister Anil Parab and passed by a voice vote.

During the period of suspension, the 12 legislators will not be allowed to enter the Legislature premises in Mumbai and Nagpur.

Objecting to the decision, BJP members, led by Devendra Fadnavis, said the opposition would boycott the House proceedings.

“This is a false allegation and an attempt to reduce the numbers of opposition benches because we exposed the government’s falsehood on the OBC quota in local bodies,” Fadnavis said.

In this violent clash inside the Legislature, a total of 12 MLAs, including two women legislators, have suffered injuries, many policemen and media persons have also been injured. All have been admitted to PMCH for treatment.
The opposition of Bihar has been an attacker on the ruling party inside the House for the last few days.
