“The people of West Bengal have the right to live. This right is being taken away from them by the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee. I am fighting for the people of Bengal,” Tiberwal was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The young leader launched her campaign along with Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh by painting the party symbol on a wall in Bhabanipur region.

]]>The post Women in Afghanistan can continue to study in universities but classrooms will be gender-segregated appeared first on The Edge Media.
]]>The minister, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, laid out the new policies at a news conference, several days after Afghanistan’s new rulers formed an all-male government.
The world has been watching closely to see to what extent the Taliban might act differently from their first time in power, in the late 1990s. During that era, girls and women were denied an education, and were excluded from public life.
The Taliban have suggested they have changed, including in their attitudes toward women. However, they have used violence in recent days against women protesters demanding equal rights.
Haqqani said the Taliban did not want to turn the clock back 20 years. “We will start building on what exists today,” he said.
However, female university students will face restrictions under the Taliban, including a compulsory dress code. Haqqani said hijabs will be mandatory but did not specify if this meant compulsory headscarves or also compulsory face coverings.
Gender segregation will also be enforced, he said. “We will not allow boys and girls to study together,” he said. “We will not allow co-education.”
Haqqani said the subjects being taught in universities would also be reviewed but did not elaborate. The Taliban, who subscribe to a harsh interpretation of Islam, have banned music and art during their previous time in power.

]]>The post Raqesh Bapat opens up to Neha Bhasin about Shamita appeared first on The Edge Media.
]]>After the first few weeks of Bigg Boss OTT, Raqesh and Shamita emerged as one of the most-loved pairs in the house. Their chemistry was for the world to see. In the last few weeks, however, fissures have appeared in their relationship and the fights and frequent arguments are proof of it.
In the promo, Raqesh calmly tells Neha: “Main yahan vapis aa ke bandhna nahin chahta tha kisi bhi rishte mein. Ya rishta chhodo, hota hai sabke saath, but expectations ke against tha main (when I entered the house, I didn’t want to get tied down to any relationship. Or let’s just say I was against having any expectations for anyone). I have given her utmost support. Every time when she used to break down, I would be there for her. But every time she cannot expect me to be there for her. I need her to be there for me as well.”

“Just because main dikhata nahin hoon ke main andar se toot chuka hoon, iska yeh matlab nahin hai ke mera andar kuch nahin ho raha hai (Just because I don’t reveal my inner turmoil, doesn’t mean I am not going through it). Just because I have put a strong face, that doesn’t mean that I am not broken inside. Maine usko bola doh broken log ek saath aaye hain yahan pe. Obviously firecrackers toh hone hi waley hain (I told her two individuals with issues have entered the Bigg Boss house, things will heat up),” he continued.
Shamita and Raqesh have been having many fights of late, be it over his compassionate attitude towards Divya or his inability to comfort her after she tripped and fell down.
The strain on their relationship has been felt by Shamita as well. In fact, sometime back, she had confessed that while she liked him, she has one issue with him. When Neha Bhasin asked if she liked him, Shamita replied, “It’s so obvious that we do, right? He’s lovely but he seems very confused sometimes which is a little disturbing to me because I’m not confused. When I’ve taken a decision, I stand by it,” she said.

]]>The state on Saturday reported five cases of COVID-19, with state Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk warning that a lockdown could be needed to stop the spread of the virus.
However, the state said testing had yet to detect any further cases, avoiding the need such a measure.
“We’re not out of the woods yet, but this is the best result we could have hoped for at this point in the outbreak,” Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles told reporters in Brisbane.
The result is a boost for Australia’s A$2 trillion ($1.5 trillion) economy, which is at risk of slipping into its second recession in as many years as a result of lockdowns of the country’s two most populous states, Victoria and New South Wales.
Victoria on Sunday recorded 392 COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, down slightly from the 450 cases recorded in the state a day earlier.

]]>The party held its national council’s annual meeting on Saturday, when a 34-member executive council was elected. Sunday, it held the first meeting of the newly-elected executive council. Both meetings were held through a video conference facility.
The decision comes at a time when the party is expanding its wings beyond the national capital and preparing for assembly elections in six states – Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Gujarat – in the next two years. Delhi also goes to the municipal polls next year with the three civic bodies in the city currently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Earlier this year, the AAP won 27 seats in the municipal polls in Gujarat’s Surat. It continues to be the ruling party in Delhi, having won 62 out of 70 assembly constituencies in the February 2020 assembly polls. It is also the principal opposition party in Punjab.
In January this year, the party held its previous national council meeting, which was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. In that meeting, it passed resolutions extending tenures for the posts of national convenor and secretary from three years to five years, and removed a provision which prohibited re-election of the same person in these posts for more than two consecutive terms.

]]>The submarine remained submerged, but the ministry said in a statement that it believes the submarine is Chinese because a Chinese Luyang III-class guided missile destroyer is near the submarine.
The submarine moved northwest off the eastern coast of the Amamioshima Island, about 700 kilometers (420 miles) northeast of the disputed East China Sea islands controlled by Japan but also claimed by Beijing, the ministry said.
The submarine on Sunday morning was heading west in the East China Sea.
Neither the submarine or the ship entered Japanese territorial water. Under international law, submarines passing off the coast of another country are required to surface and show a national flag inside territorial waters.
Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force sent three reconnaissance aircraft and two destroyers to the area for early warning and information gathering to analyze China’s intentions.
A submarine believed to be Chinese also was spotted in the area in June 2020.
China has defended its maritime activities and says it has the right to defend its sovereignty, security and development interests.
Japan, alarmed by China’s growing naval activities in the East and South China seas, has been stepping up defense in the country’s southwestern regions and islands north of the disputed islands.
Tokyo says it opposes China’s unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the region, and regularly protests the Chinese coast guard’s growing presence near the disputed islands. Japanese officials say Chinese vessels routinely violate Japanese territorial waters around the islands, sometimes threatening fishing boats.

]]>The post A 19-year-old medical aspirant dies by suicide ahead of NEET entrance exam appeared first on The Edge Media.
]]>After much delay due to the second wave of COVID-19, and amid campaigns for a further postponement, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021) for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India will be conducted today in 202 test cities.
The medical aspirant, identified as Dhanush, was the son of farm labourer and was found dead hours before the NEET exam was to take place. He had failed to clear the last two attempts at NEET.
Soon after his death, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin appealed to students to not lose hope and assured that a bill against NEET will be brought out tomorrow.
He said the youngster’s death reinforces the need to bring back education to the state’s list.
“The Union government’s indifference and adamant attitude over NEET continues to be the reason for suicide by promising students,” Mr Stalin said.
Several politicians and students have protested against the go-ahead given to NEET exam this year, given the ongoing pandemic and pleas by many students to reschedule it as the NEET date clashed with other exams, including those for compartment exams for CBSE students.
However, the centre had said it does not have any plans to suspend NEET and other common entrance examinations.
“We will pass a bill against NEET and I am confident we would win the support of all chief ministers,” Mr Stalin added.
“I appeal to students to not take any drastic decisions,” the chief minister said.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, had recently received approval from the Supreme Court of India to conduct it as per schedule. The court rejected a plea filed by some students saying NEET was clashing with other exams.
Tamil Nadu had abolished NEET exams for nearly a decade, saying that it favours affluent as even brilliant poor students and those in rural areas are unable to afford private coaching. Over the last few years, 15 medical aspirants have died by suicide in the state.
NEET was introduced during the UPA regime when Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was part of it. Then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi had managed to get presidential approval for exemption from NEET for the state. However, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government could not get a similar exemption from its BJP ally when it came to power, even though the state assembly had passed a Bill against NEET.
The ruling DMK recently constituted a commission under retired justice AK Rajan to study the impact of NEET in medical admissions. Armed with the commission’s report, the state government is hopeful of getting an exemption once again. This was also a key poll promise made by the party.

]]>Going down memory lane, in ‘Bigg Boss 13’ the audience had witnessed Rashami Desai and Sidharth Shukla’s love-hate relationship. In fact it was said that they dated too while they were on the show and their chemistry was also on-spot. But of course the relationship of Sidharth and Shehnaaz was always in the limelight.
Besides this Devoleena and Rashami’s friendship on ‘Bigg Boss 13’ was known to everyone and in fact it has to be seen that Shamita Shetty and Neha Bhasin’s friendship will remind the viewers of Rashami and Devoleena’s friendship.
In ‘Bigg Boss 13’ Devoleena helped Rashami even when she was from a different team. She also used to make her understand many things. Similarly in recent episodes Shamita was seen being extremely emotional when she was sharing some of her memories with Neha Bhasin. She told Neha about her first boyfriend who died in a car accident. So, both of them also seem like they share a very close bond.
Well a lot of things can be said about Devoleena and Rashami but it will be interesting to see if they will give some tips to the contestants from their experience.
