After the pageant win, both the divas starred together alongside superstar Akshay Kumar in the 2003 romantic film ‘Andaaz’.
Speaking about Pradeep Guha, the late producer was both Priyanka and Lara’s mentor at the Miss India pageant. Both the actors expressed grief over the demise of the former in their social media posts.
Meanwhile, on their work front, Lara Dutta was seen in the recently released Ranjit M Tewari directorial ‘Bellbottom’ alongside Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor.
On the other hand, Priyanka has an impressive lineup of projects in her kitty that includes the much-awaited film ‘Matrix 4’. Apart from that, she will also be seen in ‘Text For You’ and recently announced Bollywood film ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif, which will mark actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s return as a director. She is currently in London for the shoot of her upcoming series ‘Citadel’.

]]>After the first few weeks of Bigg Boss OTT, Raqesh and Shamita emerged as one of the most-loved pairs in the house. Their chemistry was for the world to see. In the last few weeks, however, fissures have appeared in their relationship and the fights and frequent arguments are proof of it.
In the promo, Raqesh calmly tells Neha: “Main yahan vapis aa ke bandhna nahin chahta tha kisi bhi rishte mein. Ya rishta chhodo, hota hai sabke saath, but expectations ke against tha main (when I entered the house, I didn’t want to get tied down to any relationship. Or let’s just say I was against having any expectations for anyone). I have given her utmost support. Every time when she used to break down, I would be there for her. Shamita and Raqesh have been having many fights of late, be it over his compassionate attitude towards Divya or his inability to comfort her after she tripped and fell down.
The strain on their relationship has been felt by Shamita as well. In fact, sometime back, she had confessed that while she liked him, she has one issue with him. When Neha Bhasin asked if she liked him, Shamita replied, “It’s so obvious that we do, right? He’s lovely but he seems very confused sometimes which is a little disturbing to me because I’m not confused. When I’ve taken a decision, I stand by it,” she said.

]]>“I’m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there,” Collins said in the video interview to promote a comeback tour by the 1970s British progressive rock band Genesis. “I can barely hold a (drum) stick with this hand, so there are certain physical things which get in the way,” Collins said.
It was not clear when the interview was conducted. Representatives for Collins did not immediately return a request for comment on the interview, which raised concerns on social media. The eight-time Grammy winner said his son Nic will play drums on the tour this fall, the first to North America by Genesis in 14 years.
Collins, who had a successful solo career in the 1980s and 1990s with hits like “In the Air Tonight” and “One More Night,” announced his retirement in 2011, but returned to the stage in 2017 for a “Not Yet Dead: Live” series of shows.
In the BBC interview, Collins described the upcoming Genesis tour as putting the band to bed. “We’re all men of our age and I think to some extent it probably is putting it to bed. I think, just generally for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road any more,” he said.

Actress Jameela Jamil too slammed the show saying the show is turning activism into a game. “Couldn’t they just give the money it’s going to take to pay this UNBELIEVABLY expensive talent and make this show, directly to activist causes? Rather than turning activism into a game and then giving a fraction of the much needed money away in a “prize…?” People are dying,” she tweeted.
“I’m confused: Is this an advanced Marxist critique to expose how competition for money and attention pits activists against each other + undermines deep change? Or just the end of the world?” tweeted a user.
“Priyanka Chopra, who has remained Modi’s supporter through thick & thin, as he jailed students, activists, poets & intellectuals in India…. is hosting called “The Activist” show to promote social justice in America!! The hypocrisy is nauseating,” said another.
Whereas a user called the concept gross. “This is truly horrific, lol. A reality competition show on who can be the next Insta-activist? It’s performative at best, and kinda makes light of the hard work a lot of grassroots organisations do on the ground, on a daily basis. Gross.”

“My maa… Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti,” he wrote.

]]>During the episode, Farhan responded to a comment calling him a ‘flop hero,’ who only has one hit film that too because it was a biopic on the late athlete Milkha Singh. Responding to which he said, “Iss flop hero ke zariye aapko Milkha ji ki kahani dekhne mil gayi, ussi se main khush hoon.”
Another troll said that Farhan should come out of his ‘Rock On mode’. “It’s like telling Jaggu dada to come out of his ‘Bhidu’ mode, you can’t tell him to do that, that’s who he is,” he replied.
The actor then laughed off a comment criticising his ‘phati hui awaaz’. Farhan was also compared to ‘thousand croaking frogs’
To this he replied, “This is a part of my social service extension. I want people to stay and home and listen to me. Be it the songs of Rock On, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Atrangi Yaari, which I got to do with Mr (Amitabh) Bachchan, all the songs have done well. But, of course, I totally understand that my voice is not a conventional playback singer’s voice. There is a certain quality of work that is associated with playback singing. My skill level or tone is not in that vicinity. So I don’t sing for other people. I absolutely enjoy it, and I am not apologetic about it at all.”
Farhan talked about watching Don as a child. He admitted being a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan. The actor revealed he got scared when he saw Big B in Don. “This is my hero and he is such a vicious, mean, violent person. I told Zoya (sister Zoya Akhtar), that Don is such an amazing film and it would translate so well into today’s time,” he said. The idea of remaking Don was born during the same conversation with Zoya. He mentioned that he wondered how to bring a fresh and new perspective to the film.
Also, Arbaaz gave Farhan a challenge to make up a verse on the spot using ‘shiddat’, ‘mehfooz’ and ‘uns’. While Farhan came up with a few lines, the actor joked he will be disowned by his family. “Iske baad main jaaydaad se bedakhal kiya jaunga,” he said.
In the episode, Farhan said, “I’m inactive these days (on social media), as I needed a detox from social media. There was a time when I had got into a tussle with trollers. But then the thing is, either you get stuck in a never-ending process by responding, or you realise that you have a life beyond social media, and you take an exit.”

]]>In an interview, she said that the filmmakers had everything to lose by casting her, and if they felt she’s suited for the role, then there must be some ‘merit’ to it.
Kangana Rananut told Film Companion South, “I thought I was the worst casting for Thalaivii. The worst there can be. Vijendra sir came to me, and I saw Jaya maa’s videos, and I was like ‘what!’”
She continued, “He kept saying, ‘You have to do it, you have to do it’. And the sheer obstacles of me, in my 30s, to gain 20-25 kgs of weight. And who knows how I’ll look after gaining… I would go mad, I would stress about it, and at this stage of my career I have so much to lose. So I was filled with doubts when it came to Thalaivii… Few people gave me a lot of confidence. Vijendra sir comes from the Telugu industry, but it’s Vijay sir who actually… He said, ‘You will do it, you are the perfect casting’. And I thought he will be bashed in Tamil Nadu and he has so much to lose; people are going to be offended. But he’s a big director, there must be some merit in it. He also has everything to lose. You know how people are. Jaya maa has temples. They will burn theatres if someone doesn’t live up to (expectations). That kind of passion people have for her. So his conviction worked a lot for me.”
Thalaivii, co-starring Arvind Swami, Nassar and Bhagyashree, traces the life of Jayalalithaa from when she was an ingenue in the movies to her career as a politician. The film is slated for a theatrical release on September 10.
