]]> New Delhi, August 21: In a significant political development, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met BJP National President JP Nadda to raise serious concerns over Wayanad’s healthcare crisis and push for the long-pending demand for an AIIMS in Kerala.

 

Taking to X, Priyanka revealed that she requested Nadda to expedite stalled health projects in Wayanad and highlighted the non-functional Mananthavadi Medical College, which continues to leave thousands without critical care facilities.

 

“We also discussed the specific health challenges faced by Wayanad’s tribal population, the delay in National Health Mission (NHM) fund disbursement, and the urgent need for a specialized trauma centre to handle frequent animal attack cases in the region,” she posted.

 

Priyanka further stressed Kerala’s long-standing demand for an AIIMS, asserting that the state’s growing healthcare needs require world-class infrastructure. She thanked Nadda for holding a “frank and constructive discussion” and expressed hope that the government would prioritize these issues.

 

Political analysts believe this move reflects Congress’s intent to highlight local issues in Wayanad, Priyanka’s key political turf, while also pressuring the Centre ahead of upcoming healthcare budget allocations.

 

With rising demands for better medical infrastructure, all eyes are now on the government’s response and whether Kerala will finally get its long-awaited AIIMS approval.
