<p>He has to serve the new sentence consecutively, which means Mr Lai faces a total of 20 months in jail.</p>
<p>This verdict comes at a time when mainland China is already impeding Hong Kong&#8217;s freedom and rights.</p>
<p>Lai and nine other activists were sentenced on 28 May for participating in an unlawful assembly on 1 October 2019.</p>
<p>Others who were sentenced include Figo Chan, Leung Kwok-hung aka &#8220;Long Hair&#8221;, and Lee Cheuk-yan.</p>
<p>On Friday, Judge Amanda Woodcock said she found claims by some of the defendants that their march on 1 October would be peaceful to be &#8220;naïve and unrealistic&#8221;, according to a Reuters report.</p>
