<p data-start="1464" data-end="1716">At the event, the minister <strong data-start="1491" data-end="1532">inaugurated a 23-km four-lane highway</strong> from Shankha to Khajoori (₹1,130 crore) and <strong data-start="1577" data-end="1600">laid the foundation</strong> for the <strong data-start="1609" data-end="1652">four-laning of a 32-km stretch of NH-39</strong> from the Chhattisgarh–Jharkhand border to Gumla (₹1,330 crore).</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Rising number of attacks on judges and lawyers compelled a worried Supreme Court on Friday to take suo motu cognisance of the alleged killing of Dhanbad additional district judge Uttam Anand and order the Jharkhand chief secretary and the DGP to submit the status of the investigations within a week. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Though on Thursday, CJI N V Ramana had talked to Jharkhand HC Chief Justice Ravi Ranjan , leading to the HC ordering probe into the incident, a bench of the CJI</span><span style="font-weight: 400"><br />
</span><span style="font-weight: 400">Justice Surya Kant on Friday decided to take up the Jharkhand incident besides those on a pan-India basis, saying attacks on judges and lawyers were reported from across the country. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">On Thursday, SC Bar Association president Vikas Singh had mentioned the Dhanbad incident before the CJI and demanded a CBI probe, terming it a “Brazen assault” on independence of judiciary. </span></p>

<p>The greatest death rate at seven was recorded by Ranchi. East Singhbhum and Deoghar and Dhanbad had two fatalities recorded. There are 7,307 ongoing cases in Jharkhand, whereas 3,26,597 recovered. The regeneration rate among patients with Covid-19 increased to 96.36 percent by 92.50 percent on average.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Six ministers of opposition-ruled states moved the Supreme Court on Friday seeking review of its order permitting the Centre to conduct NEET and JEE entrance exams this year amid the persisting COVID-19 pandemic.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The review plea has been filed by ministers from West Bengal (Moloy Ghatak), Jharkhand (Rameshwar Oraon), Rajasthan (Raghu Sharma), Chhattisgarh (Amarjeet Bhagat), Punjab (B S Sidhu) and Maharashtra (Uday Ravindra Sawant).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The plea has been filed through advocate Sunil Fernandes.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Aug 17, the top court had refused to interfere with the conduct of medical and engineering entrance exams &#8212; NEET and JEE   scheduled to take place in September saying that life must go on and students can&#8217;t lose a precious year due to the pandemic.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The apex court had dismissed a plea by one Sayantan Biswas seeking direction to National Testing Agency, which conducts both the NEET and JEE exams, to postpone them and said that there was absolutely&#8221; no merit in the plea.</p>
