Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said an article in the RSS-affiliated Panchjanya labeling Infosys as “anti-national” was “not right.” According to CNN-interview News18’s with Sitharaman, “That wasn’t the case. I believe they’ve also issued a statement separating themselves from the author. That, in my opinion, is not appropriate, and people have rightfully withdrawn from it. It wasn’t right in the least,”
Sitharaman responded to the ‘anti-national’ statement by saying that, while users were inconvenienced by the issues, the government and Infosys were cooperating. According to Sitharaman, the government had high hopes for the new platform, many of which were disappointed.

Several industry leaders told news agency Reuters that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s officials and ideological allies have scared the business community with a public rant against two business titans.
Over the weekend, a publication owned by members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) attacked Infosys for failing to fix problems with the income tax website it manages.
The RSS labeled Infosys “anti-national” for sabotaging the tax system, sending shivers through the IT industry, which is leery of being on the wrong side of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

]]>They are being wooed with joining bonuses. Fintech firm BharatPe is offering BMW bikes to new joinees. There are others offering iPhones and flexi-working. Some companies are even paying Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 each to candidates to take their assessment tests, irrespective of whether the candidates eventually join these firms.
Recruitment firms are minting money. But they are also at their wits end. They are working overtime, and candidate negotiations have become a nightmare. By the time they make an offer, the candidate has received another better one. And then they have to go back to their client to see if they could up their offer.
Saravanan Balasundaram, founder and CEO of talent consultancy firm Han Digital, said they schedule more than 1,000 interviews a week, but in 40% of these cases, either the candidate does not show up, or internet connectivity issues result in the interview being cancelled or postponed. “Of the 600 interviews that happen, only about 75 join,” he said.
Siva Prasad Nanduri, VP and business head at IT staffing firm TeamLease Digital, said the talent demand from IT firms was 5,000 in the quarter ended April, but this jumped to 20,000 in the quarter ended June.
TCS, Infosys, HCL and Wipro together expect to hire 1 lakh people this fiscal year. Cognizant alone plans to hire 1 lakh experienced professionals and onboard 30,000 freshers this year, as also make 45,000 offers to campus recruits who would join the company next year. Global demand for digitisation, following the experiences of the pandemic, has resulted in a sharp pickup in business for IT firms.

]]>“Senior officials of the ministry will hold an interactive meeting with the vendor and team of the new I-T portal that is Infosys, on June 22 between 11 am and 1 pm,” the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in an official statement. Other stakeholders including members from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), auditors, consultants and taxpayers will also be a part of the interaction.
Ever since its launch on June 7, the new I-T e-filing portal has been experiencing numerous technical glitches. Taxpayers and tax professionals both have been complaining that are unable to log in or carry out any transactions through the website — be it uploading a relevant form or replying to a notice from I-T department.
The new portal has been fraught with several technical glitches/issues leading to taxpayer inconvenience.
“Representatives from Infosys team will be present to answer queries, clarify issues and receive inputs on the working of the portal, to remove glitches and sort out issues faced by the taxpayers,” the ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
