]]>From a strategic and commercial perspective, the Siliguri corridor holds major significance. The corridor, stretching nearly 40 kilometres, is commonly known as the Siliguri Corridor and lies close to the Bangladesh border. It is regarded as a vital link connecting eastern India with the rest of the country.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Railway Minister Ashwini Bhagat stated that work is underway to lay rail tracks in the hilly terrain of Siliguri. The project aims to improve connectivity in a region that is critical for national security as well as economic development.
In the Union Budget, the Railways have received an allocation of approximately ₹2.93 lakh crore, which is the highest budgetary support ever provided to the sector. The minister explained that the allocated funds will be used for laying new tracks, expanding existing tracks to four lanes, and strengthening railway infrastructure.
The Siliguri rail line will run between Tindharia Halt and Rangapani railway stations in West Bengal. According to the minister, the project is expected to significantly enhance passenger movement, freight transport, and overall connectivity in the region.

In the initial part of the viral clip, some people can be heard jokingly claiming that they had stopped the Vande Bharat train. After the train halts, the same individuals are seen recording a reel. The video also shows a railway police constable onboard the train, which initially gave the impression that the group was attempting to board it.
Later in the footage, the individuals can be heard saying that they had no intention of boarding the train and were only trying to record a viral video. However, the exact location and timing of the incident have not yet been officially confirmed.
Social media users strongly condemned the act, calling it extremely dangerous and irresponsible. Many described it as a threat to passengers’ lives and demanded strict legal action against those involved.
Several users urged the Railway Ministry and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to arrest the accused and invoke stringent laws, including provisions under the National Security Act (NSA). Rescue Operations Underway
According to officials, the passenger train hit the goods train from behind while passing between Gatora and Bilaspur railway stations. The impact caused one of the coaches of the passenger train to mount onto a wagon of the goods train. Several passengers were trapped inside the damaged coach, prompting an immediate rescue response from railway and police teams.
Efforts to Save the Injured
Police reported that rescue operations are still ongoing to free passengers stuck under the wreckage. Many of the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, though the exact number of casualties and injuries has not yet been confirmed.

]]>Vande Bharat, India’s indigenous semi-high-speed rail system, is getting a boost, with the Railways planning to roll out at least 10 of them by August 2022 to honor the country’s 75th anniversary. Medha, a Hyderabad-based engineering firm that won the contract to supply the electrical equipment for 44 Vande Bharat trains in February, has now been urged to speed up its manufacturing schedule so that at least two prototypes may be put out by next March once all trials are completed.

Then after stopping for a minute, she leaves from here and arrives at Habibganj at 2.25 pm.
The stoppages of trains that run between Delhi and Mumbai are Lalitpur, Datia, Dabra, Babina, Pipariya, Banapura, Chhanra, Burhanpur, Pachora, Chalisgaon, Belapur, Doda and on the Delhi-Mumbai route from Bhopal. Uruli are mainly involved.

]]>The first three months of this financial year, when the Railways had to suspend all its regular passenger services due to the corona virus travel restrictions, the national transporter’s revenue was in the negative — Rs 531.12 crore in April, Rs 145.24 crore in May and Rs 390.6 in June (all in negative), the RTI reply said.
“The minus figures are being shown due to the fact that the value of refunds is more than the value of tickets booked, said Railway spokesperson DJ Narain. An official explained that due to the suspension of services, tickets booked for travel in April, May and June were offered refunds, while fewer tickets were booked during these three months due to the restrictions.
The Railways has cancelled all regular passenger services indefinitely. In the first quarter of the 2019-20 fiscal, the Railways had earned Rs 4,345 crore in April, Rs 4,463 crore in May and Rs 4,589 crore in June. The Railways has said that due to the pandemic, it is envisaging a loss of around Rs 40,000 crore this financial year. Passenger revenues of Railways are naturally expected to be low this year due to suspension of most of the services due to COVID-19 pandemic, Narain said.
However, freight traffic seems to have recovered somewhat since the Railways has been the preferred mode of transportation for ferrying essential during these months. In April 2020, the freight earning was Rs 5,744 crore, in May it was 7,289 crore and in June the number stood at Rs 8,706 crore. In the first quarter of last fiscal year, it earned Rs 9,331 crore in April, Rs 10,032 crore in May and Rs 9,702 crore in June.
