<p>People living in mountainous and landslide-prone regions of the Konkan region are being relocated, according to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who also professed sadness over the loss of human life in a landslide in Raigad district.</p>
<p>According to a message from the Chief Minister&#8217;s Office (CMO), CM Thackeray urged citizens to work with the local authorities in the migration of people of hazardous coastal regions.</p>

<p>&#8220;This has been raised to red alert today, signifying the possibility of exceptionally heavy rain, taking into account the synoptic condition,&#8221; said a meteorologist of the IMD in Mumbai.</p>
<p>On Wednesday, the city awoke to its fourth consecutive day of rain, with 23.9mm of rain falling in the 24 hours finishing at 8.30 am.</p>
<p>Heavy to very heavy rains are predicted over Mumbai, with the possibility of very heavy rain (over 204.5mm) in localized spots throughout the day, as well as winds blowing of 40-50 kph, gusting to 60 mph in certain parts.</p>

According to the BMC, the city&#8217;s municipal government, at least 20 people have perished in rain-related accidents in Mumbai&#8217;s Chembur and Vikhroli districts.</p>
<p>Officials reported 156.94 mm of rain in Mumbai between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., with the east end receiving 143.14 mm and the western suburbs receiving 125.37 mm, correspondingly.</p>
<p>Waterlogging was recorded in a number of locations, notably Chunabhatti, Sion, Dadar, Gandhi Market, Chembur, and Kurla LBS Road. Residents were observed in some of these low-lying regions removing rainwater that had infiltrated their homes as a result of the rainfall.</p>
