<p>On October 21, a team led by NCB Bangalore Zonal Director Amit Ghawate intercepted the package and recovered roughly 3 kg of white-colored crystalline substance, believed to be pseudoephedrine, hidden in three lehengas.</p>

<p>The prohibited material was discovered after opening each fold of the lehengas&#8217; fall line. The cargo was scheduled to be shipped from Narasapuram, Andhra Pradesh, to Australia. The officials followed the package to Chennai and identified the consignor.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoning 10 Telugu film personalities, the spotlight is back on the drugs racket which had rocked the film industry four years ago.</p>
<p>The ED on Wednesday issued notices to 10 persons connected to Tollywood and two others including a private club manager as part of a money laundering probe linked to the drugs racket.</p>
<p>The ED has asked actors Rakul Preet Singh, Rana Daggubati, Ravi Teja, Charmee Kaur, Navdeep, Mumaith Khan and director Puri Jagnnadh to appear before it between August 31 and September 22.</p>
<p>Tanish, Nandu, actor Ravi Teja&#8217;s driver Srinivas are also among those summoned.</p>
<p>The development has created ripples in Tollywood as the two leading actors who were not questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana excise and prohibition department two years ago, have also been summoned by the ED.</p>
<p>Tollywood circles are worried over the questioning of the film personalities about their possible involvement in drugs and money laundering. However, an ED official has clarified that for now they will be treated only as witnesses.</p>
<p>Rakul Preet has been asked to appear on September 6 while Rana has been summoned on September 8. Both were not in the list of celebrities questioned by SIT earlier.</p>
<p>The ED has asked Ravi Teja to appear on September 9 and Mumaith Khan has been summoned on September 15.</p>
<p>Last month, a court in Hyderabad had accepted the charge sheets filed by the Special Investigation Team of Telangana&#8217;s excise and prohibition department.</p>
<p>The drugs racket was busted on July 2, 2017 when customs officials arrested Calvin Mascarenhas, a musician, and two others and seized drugs worth Rs 30 lakh from their possession.</p>
<p>They had reportedly told the investigators that they are supplying drugs to film celebrities, software engineers, and even students of some corporate schools. Mobile numbers of some Tollywood celebrities were allegedly found in their contact lists.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The raid in the home of consulting psychologist Raheem Charaniya in Mazgaon on Monday led to the seizure of the cake, being sold under the “Hash brownie” name, as well as 320 grams opium and Rs.1.72 lakh cash, he said. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">“Charaniya was baking cakes mixed with weed, hashish  and opium . He was supplying them to high-profile clients hosting parties in the city. Charaniya’s questioning led to the arrest of Ramzan Shaikh, from whom the former used to procure weed and hashish”, the NCB offical said. </span></p>

<p>The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that if the positivity rate falls below 5 per cent, then it is considered as the safe zone. This would now create a pressure on the Delhi government to lift  the lockdown. The Medical experts say that lockdown is the main factor for the decline in cases.</p>
<p>The daily cases recorded in the last 24 hours is also the lowest since April 1. The active cases in Delhi has now reached below 36,000. The recovery rate in the city is 95.85 per cent and the death rate is 1.62 per cent. Delhi has faced the worst since the spread of the second wave. The state suffered a lack of oxygen, hospital beds, druga and also vaccines.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Sameer Khan, son-in-law of Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik, in the drugs case.  Now the investigating agency is conducting raids in Mumbai at their stated places.  Following the arrest of Sameer Khan, NCB has intensified its investigation into the drugs case. Several NCB teams raided Mumbai last night.  Apart from this, raids are also on at Sameer Khan&#8217;s residence in Bandra.  Apart from this, NCB is taking Khan for medical examination after which he will be produced in court.<br>    An official of the central agency said that Malik&#8217;s son-in-law Sameer Khan was called to the NCB&#8217;s office in Ballard Estate in South Mumbai for questioning.  Khan arrived there at around 10 am and was arrested after several hours of questioning.<br> Sources said the agency summoned them after an accused in the drugs case and an alleged online transaction of Rs 20,000 between them came to light.  British citizen Karan Sajanani and two others were arrested last week with 200 kilograms of narcotics in this case.  Significantly, the agency on Tuesday arrested Ramkumar Tiwari, one of the owners of Mumbai&#8217;s famous &#8216;Muchhadh Panwala&#8217; shop.</p>
