At least two of her close friends have been identified afflicted with the Delta Plus strain, which is considered extremely infectious, since her death, he said.</p>
<p>It is the state&#8217;s second mortality caused by this variety, which killed an 80-year-old woman from Ratnagiri district on June 13. Officials reported the woman had not received a single dose of COVID-19 vaccination.</p>
<p>In the most recent case, a woman from Ghatkopar, an eastern Mumbai suburb, died on July 27 while receiving treatment in a hospital ICU.</p>
