<p>New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to take a final call on the extension of lockdown on Sunday. While the total shutdown in the national capital is scheduled to end on Monday (May 17), reports claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi might extend the lockdown by another week, i.e, May 24, despite the steep drop in the coronavirus cases and positivity rate.</p>
<p>On April 19, CM Kejriwal had announced a six-day lockdown to break the chain of the coronavirus infection and boost the health system that was about to collapse. The shutdown was later extended thrice to bring the situation under control. Last week Kejriwal extended the lockdown till May 17, saying that any leniency would squander the gains achieved so far in the current wave of the pandemic. The AAP govt had imposed strict measures like suspension of Metro trains and prohibition of wedding ceremonies at public venues.</p>
<p>Earlier, National Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) had requested Kejriwal to lift the lockdown and open markets in a phased manner &#8216;with strict enforcement of laws&#8217;. Speaking to PTI, National Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) president Atul Bhargava said that nobody was in favour of the lockdown since the beginning. &#8220;But they had no option since the coronavirus cases in Delhi were rising. However, now we are of the opinion that the government instead of extending lockdown should open the markets in a phased manner with strict enforcement of laws and proper sanitisation&#8221;, he added.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Food and Civil Supplies Minister Umesh Katti of Karnataka (Karnataka) came under attack from Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and opposition parties for his controversial statement. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;A farmer from Katti requested to increase the supply of rice through PDS, on which he asked the farmer to die.&nbsp; Katti later regretted withdrawing his statement and said that he did not want anyone to die.&nbsp; Let everyone prosper.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;Ishwar, a farmer activist from Gadag in northern Karnataka, had called Katti on Wednesday and asked him how one can survive with the help of two kilograms of rice in a month when thousands of people have become unemployed due to the lockdown.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The minister replied that in view of the lockdown, in May and June, the Center will give five kilograms of food grains.&nbsp; On this, the farmer said that whether people should fast or die by then.&nbsp; Katti said, &#8216;It would be better to die.&nbsp; It is better that you stop trading rice.&nbsp; Do not call me again. &#8216;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;In a statement issued from the Chief Minister&#8217;s Office, Yeddyurappa was quoted as saying that he rejected Katti&#8217;s statement and said that no minister should make such a statement.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Congress state chief DK Shivakumar criticized Katti for his statement and asked the state government to immediately remove him from the post.&nbsp; Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy also criticized Katti.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the same time, the maximum number of deaths in this period has been 1761, after which the total number of dead has increased to 1,80,530.&nbsp; The most worrying matter is that the number of active patients in the country has crossed the 20 lakh mark.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to the Union Health Ministry, covid currently has 20,31,977 active in the country.&nbsp; That is, their treatment is either going on in the hospital or it is in home isolation on the instructions of the doctors.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;Kejriwal said, &#8220;I and LG Sahab took this decision when we had no other solution.&#8221;&nbsp; However, he also said that the lockdown is not a solution to the corona.&nbsp; He asked the migrant laborers not to leave Delhi.&nbsp; This lockdown will remain small.&nbsp; It will not be extended.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;Meanwhile, former Prime Minister of the country Manmohan Singh has also been found to be Corona positive.&nbsp; Manmohan Singh has been admitted to the Trauma Center of AIIMS.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Recently, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to PM Modi regarding the vaccination campaign.  </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the midst of the rising outbreak of the Corona epidemic, the Allahabad High Court of Uttar Pradesh issued an order to impose lockdown in five cities of UP. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><br> The Yogi government of the state has refused to accept this order.  The High Court had issued an order to impose lockdown till 26 April in Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and Prayagraj.<br> On this order of the court, it has been said on behalf of the Yogi government that the Corona cases have increased in the state and strictness is necessary for the control of the corona.  </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><br>The government has taken many steps and strict steps are being taken even further.  Along with saving life, the livelihood of the poor is also to be saved. In this way, the complete lockdown in cities will not be done yet.  People are automatically imprisoned in many places.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">  During this time, it was said that no shops, hotels, offices and public places would be opened in these cities, except for shops with essential services.  Along with this, orders were also given to ban worship and events in temples.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><br> According to the order issued by the court, in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar and Gorakhpur, everything except economic institutions, medical and health service, industrial and scientific institutions and institutions with essential services were asked to remain closed.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In view of the extremely poor condition due to Corona epidemic, a lockdown has been announced for 6 days in Delhi from 10 am to 5 am Monday. This decision was taken in the meeting of Chief Minister and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, &#8220;A lockdown is being imposed in Delhi for 6 days from 10 am tonight to 5 am next Monday. About 23,500 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;The infection rate has gone up tremendously.&nbsp; &#8220;There is a huge shortage of beds in hospitals in Delhi. ICU beds are almost exhausted. There are less than 100 ICU beds left. There is a shortage of medicines.&#8221;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Sunday, 25,462 new cases of covid were reported in a single day on Sunday and the rate of infection increased to 29.74 percent.&nbsp; The rate of infection is 29.74 percent, which means that almost every third sample in Delhi is found to be infected.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In Delhi, 161 more patients died due to infection in the last 24 hours.&nbsp;A day earlier, 24,375 new cases of covid-19 were reported and 167 patients died.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp;According to the latest bulletin, with the arrival of these new cases in Delhi, the total number of infected people in the national capital has increased to 8,53,460 so far, while the death toll has increased to 12,121.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A total of 85,620 tests were conducted a day earlier including 56,015 RT-PCR probes and 29,605 rapid antigen probes.</p>
