The post Faridabad Van Assault Case Shocks City as Two Arrested appeared first on The Edge Media.
]]>The incident reportedly took place late on Monday night when the woman was waiting for transport. The two men offered her a lift, but instead of dropping her at her destination, they allegedly drove towards Gurugram and assaulted her inside the vehicle.
Police stated that the woman was driven around in the van for several hours and was thrown out of the moving vehicle near Raja Chowk at around 3 am. The speed of the van was reportedly over 90 kilometres per hour at the time of the incident.
The victim sustained severe injuries to her face and head and required more than twelve stitches. Her condition remains critical, and she is not yet in a position to give a formal statement to the police.
As per the complaint filed by the woman’s sister, the victim had been staying at her parental home due to marital issues. She had visited a friend in Sector 23 on Monday evening and, while returning late at night, accepted a lift from the accused.
The woman managed to contact her sister after the incident, who rushed to the spot and took her to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital. Doctors advised shifting her to Delhi due to the seriousness of her injuries, but the family later admitted her to a private hospital in Faridabad.
The accused are said to be natives of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and were residing in Faridabad. Police confirmed that they were not known to the victim. The vehicle used in the crime has been seized, and the accused have reportedly confessed.
Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said the accused will be produced before the court, and their identities will be disclosed only after a test identification parade is conducted.

]]>Police have arrested a 25year old man accused of repeatedly harassing the student. The incident took place late Friday night in the Lanjiberna area while the victim’s family members were asleep. The second-year student was initially rushed to a nearby hospital and was later transferred to Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela, where doctors described her condition as highly critical.
Sundergarh Superintendent of Police Amritpal Kaur confirmed the arrest and stated that early investigations suggest the student had been subjected to persistent harassment.
The victim’s mother said her daughter had received a threatening phone call shortly before the incident. She added that the family awoke to the student’s cries and rushed her to medical care without delay.
The case comes at a time when Odisha has witnessed a troubling rise in similar incidents. On July 14th, a student from Balasore died from burn injuries at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, after an alleged self-immolation attempt linked to sexual harassment by her professor, resulting in the arrest of four individuals, including the professor and the college principal. Days later, on July 19th, a minor girl from Puri district, reportedly set herself ablaze and later died during treatment at AIIMS New Delhi, though the cause remains under investigation.
Another incident occurred on August 6th in Kendrapara district, where a 20 year old undergraduate student died following alleged blackmail by a male acquaintance, who has since been arrested. On August 11th, a 13th year old schoolgirl in Bargarh district, died after reportedly setting herself on fire near her maternal uncle’s home.
These recurring cases have intensified concerns regarding the safety and well-being of young women across the state, prompting demands for stronger preventive measures and more robust mechanisms to address harassment.

]]>Details of the Case
The accused, identified as Rajesh Paswan, Vicky Paswan, and Sanju Sai, are currently in police custody. They have been charged under the POCSO Act for allegedly abducting and assaulting a class 8 student. Reports indicate that the girl was taken to a secluded location while returning from her tuition classes and later left near her home during the last week of October.
Public Outcry and Protest March
Hundreds of people, including many women, participated in the rally that stretched over two kilometers—from Airport Gate No 1 to Nagerbazar via Kalidhan Colony and Gorabazar. The participants demanded the death penalty for the accused, expressing outrage over the incident.
Statement from Bangla Pokkho
Garga Chatterjee, the general secretary of Bangla Pokkho, stated that political parties have remained silent due to vote-bank concerns. He added that the organization would continue its protests until the culprits face severe punishment and Bengali daughters can live without fear.

]]>The incident came to light after the victim, who had moved to West Bengal to pursue her studies, filed a formal complaint at the Anandapur Police Station. In her statement, she alleged that the accused visited her rented apartment in Anandapur, mixed drugs into her drink, and assaulted her after she lost consciousness.
Police sources stated that the accused went into hiding following the incident but was tracked down and arrested upon returning to his residence in the Anandapur area.
“The student claimed that her classmate came to her flat and offered her a drink laced with drugs. After consuming it, she fainted and was subsequently raped,” said a senior police officer.
This case emerged just days after another shocking incident in West Bengal’s Durgapur, where a medical student was reportedly gang-raped outside her campus.
The accused was presented before a city court and has been remanded to police custody until October 22, pending further investigation.
“We are continuing the investigation, and additional details will be disclosed as the inquiry progresses,” the officer added.
