Milkha Singh died of post-Covid complications at a hospital in Chandigarh where he had been admitted in early June. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted shortly after play began on Saturday that the team is wearing black armbands &#8220;in remembrance of Milkha Singhji, who passed away due to COVID-19&#8221;.</p>

<p>Milkha Singh had tested positive for COVID-19 in May and was admitted to a private hospital in Chandigarh on May 24 as he had been suffering with COVID pneumonia. He was moved to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education &amp; Research on June 3.</p>
<p>The 91-year-old Milkha Singh died on Friday night after a month-long battle with COVID-19. He had lost his former national volleyball captain wife Nirmal Kaur to the same ailment.</p>
