										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Thursday, PM Narendra Modi and President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will sign a contract for the mammoth Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP), the country&#8217;s largest infrastructure project.</p>
<p>The project, which is backed by a $100 million Indian grant and a $400 million Line of Credit, is also India&#8217;s largest new construction project in its neighborhood in recent years. The Maldives government and Indian infrastructure giant AFCONS will sign a contract in Male to kick off the project, which will be the largest in the Indian Ocean atoll nation.</p>
<p>Called the Greater Male Connectivity Project, it will involve the construction of a 6.74 km long bridge and causeway link connecting the capital Male with the adjoining islands of Villingli, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi.</p>
