]]> Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s mother is in critical condition. The actor, who has been shooting for his film Cinderella in the UK for the past couple of weeks, reportedly, flew back after reports of his mother being admitted to ICU in Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital emerged. According to Hindustan Times, the actor’s mother was unwell for the past few days.

Even as he has flown back to be with mom, Akshay has told his producers to carry on shooting with scenes that do not require his presence. All the other work commitments of his also continue.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in his recently released film “BellBottom.” Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, it also stars Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi and Vaani Kapoor. The spy thriller features Akshay as a RAW agent who goes on a mission to save passengers of a hijacked flight. Lara essays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was in power at that time and Vaani played Akshay’s wife in the film.

“BellBottom” became the first major Bollywood film to release in theatres after the second wave of the novel coronavirus. The film did not release in Maharashtra, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala as theatres are shut there.

Apart from ‘Cinderella.’ Akshya has ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Bachchan Pandey’ in the pipeline

]]> Bollywood actor Vaani Kapoor, who was last seen in the 2019 hit film ‘War’, is thrilled that she got the opportunity to work opposite Akshay Kumar in ‘Bell Bottom’, a movie in which she has a small but impactful role.

Vaani, who made her Bollywood debut with the 2013 romantic-comedy ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, said the decision to do ‘Bell Bottom’ was instant because she got a chance to share the screen with her matinee idol.

Vaani said, “I’m fortunate to have got the opportunity to work with one of the icons of Hindi cinema today, Akshay Kumar sir. I’m deeply thankful for his trust and faith. I have a small but impactful role in BellBottom which I’m hoping will be loved by audiences and critics alike.” She added, “I’m just thrilled that my journey in cinema so far has enabled me to be a part of the film and the fact that I could share screen space with Akshay sir, who is larger than life and such a great person, the decision was a no-brainer.”

Vaani also revealed that her father, Shiv Kapoor, is a huge fan of Akshay and he was ecstatic that Vaani had an offer to do a big film opposite him. The ‘Befikre’ star said, “I also have to share that my dad is a huge fan of Akshay Kumar and he was ecstatic that I was getting the opportunity to work with him. It was also amazing to see my dad so happy that I would be working with this megastar whose work he has loved for so long. He was just over the moon when I broke the news to him.

“Vaani added, “So, for all these reasons, Bell Bottom is a truly memorable film for me. I hope that it is loved by audiences worldwide.” Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, ‘Bell Bottom’ also features Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi. The upcoming film, which is being touted as a spy thriller, is bankrolled by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani.

The movie will be released in theatres on August 19. Apart from ‘Bell Bottom’, Vaani will also be seen in ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’, opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, and ‘Shamshera’, opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

]]> Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom, which was earlier scheduled to hit theaters on July 27, will now release on August 19. The actor took to social media to announce the new release date. Helmed by Ranjit M Tewari, Bell Bottom also stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles.

Assuring his fans that he is returning to thrill them, Akshay wrote on Twitter, “Mission: To Entertain you on the BIG SCREEN Date: August 19, 2021, Announcing the arrival of #BellBottom! #BellBottomInCinemasAug19.” The short video clip shared along with the release date announcement also claims that the espionage thriller is ‘inspired by true events’, and shows Akshay as a RAW Agent and the entire cast of the film walking against the backdrop of an aircraft.

Bell Bottom was originally supposed to release on the silver screens on May 28 but it got postponed due to the second wave of coronavirus. Then, the makers zeroed in on July 27, but since many states didn’t ease the restrictions on the opening of cinema halls, they once again pushed the date to August 19.

Earlier, there were speculations around the direct-to-OTT release of the spy thriller, but Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment released a statement and dismissed all the rumours. Akshay Kumar also shared the teaser of the film, which was shot in the UK, amid heightened COVID-19 safety measures.

Bell Bottom is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh of Pooja Entertainment, in association with Emmay Entertainment’s Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani.
