										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p data-start="1636" data-end="1867">The <strong data-start="1640" data-end="1678">Election Commission of India (ECI)</strong> is gearing up to launch a major <strong data-start="1711" data-end="1747">Special Intensive Revision (SIR)</strong> of the voters’ list across the country next week, starting with <strong data-start="1812" data-end="1831">10 to 15 states</strong>, officials confirmed on Saturday.</p>
<p data-start="1869" data-end="2163">The initial phase will focus on states heading to the polls in <strong data-start="1932" data-end="1940">2026</strong>, including <strong data-start="1952" data-end="2010">Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and West Bengal</strong>. The exercise aims to ensure a more accurate and transparent electoral roll by removing duplicates, correcting errors, and adding new eligible voters.</p>
<p data-start="2165" data-end="2407">Officials said the Commission will avoid conducting SIR in states where <strong data-start="2237" data-end="2261">local body elections</strong> are underway or imminent, as local poll machinery remains occupied. Those states will be covered in <strong data-start="2362" data-end="2378">later phases</strong> of the nationwide cleanup.</p>
<p data-start="2409" data-end="2673">In <strong data-start="2412" data-end="2421">Bihar</strong>, where the revision process has already concluded, the final voters’ list with <strong data-start="2501" data-end="2521">7.42 crore names</strong> was published on <strong data-start="2539" data-end="2555">September 30</strong>. The state heads for elections in <strong data-start="2590" data-end="2625">two phases on November 6 and 11</strong>, with counting scheduled for <strong data-start="2655" data-end="2670">November 14</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="2675" data-end="2958">The ECI has already held <strong data-start="2700" data-end="2728">two national conferences</strong> with <strong data-start="2734" data-end="2769">Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs)</strong> to finalize the roadmap for the massive update drive. Several states have already uploaded their most recent voters’ lists on official websites, while others prepare for fresh revisions.</p>
<p data-start="2960" data-end="3122">Notably, the <strong data-start="2973" data-end="2996">Delhi CEO’s website</strong> still hosts the <strong data-start="3013" data-end="3032">2008 voter list</strong>, the last time a full-scale intensive revision was carried out in the national capital.</p>
