Following Elon Musk’s $44 billion buyouts of Twitter Inc., Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos offered a daring question: could this make things tough for Tesla Inc. in China? Bezos brought attention to Tesla’s tight relations with China, the world’s largest electric car market and home to the company’s first overseas facility, in a series of tweets. The year before, the Shanghai facility produced around half of the company’s worldwide cars, and Musk has indicated that number might quadruple this year.

After work hours, a spokesperson from Musk’s family office did not immediately reply to a request for comment. In just one of his first tweets following the take-private transaction, Musk defended free expression on the internet. Officials in China, meanwhile, have banned Twitter, as well as most other American social media platforms, due to concerns about the influence on public debate.

On Monday, the Supreme Court rejected a plea filed by e-commerce majors Amazon and Flipkart that sought to stall an antitrust investigation into their business practices. The top court stated that the two companies must face inquiry by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for anti-competition agreements.

“As a big e-commerce organisation you should volunteer for antitrust investigation but you are objecting,” said chief justice of india (CJI) NV Ramana-led bench.

The CCI last year ordered an inquiry after allegations from brick-and-mortar retailers that the US firms promoted select sellers on their e-commerce platforms and used business practices that stifle competition.

A systems engineer at the spaceflight services company, Sanjal Gavande was born in Kalyan and dreamed of building a spaceship even as a child.

After completing her bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, Sanjal Gavande left for the US to pursue a master’s in mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University.

“I am really happy that my childhood dream is about to come true. I am proud to be a part of Team Blue Origin, Ms Gavande told Times of India over a phone call from the US.

Jeff Bezzos is about to start his next career stage, leaving a lasting legacy after Amazon became one of the world’s most powerful companies from a tiny online book seller. Bezos, aged 57, had been set out to shift his focus to his private company, philanthropy and other activities and give over the position of Amazon CEO on Monday to Andy Jassy. However, as Chairman of the giant of technology and e-commerce that he created 27 years ago, he will maintain a vital role.

The change follows a phenomenal Amazon streak which has brought attention to its inventions.

Amazon, the e-commerce giant on Sunday unveiled its Intellectual Property Accelerator or IP Accelerator programme, which is aimed at providing access to sellers, especially those who are also owners of brands, to services provided by legal experts.

This access, a statement by Amazon added, will help the sellers to secure trademark protection for their brands as well as from infringement mainly on Amazon websites across the country.

The IP Accelerator programme is already available in Europe and the United States, it added.

Mary Beth Westmoreland, vice-president, technology, brand protection at Amazon, said the IP Accelerator programme is already available in the US, Europe and Canada.

“We are excited to offer the advantages of this programme to our Indian businesses. Our Intellectual Property Accelerator Program enables businesses to protect their intellectual property, which in turn helps to ensure an authentic shopping experience for everyone,” said Amazon’s vice president technology, brand protection Mary Beth Westmoreland.

The programme was launched as a pilot project in India last year and received positive feedback from businesses, the statement said.

“Establishing IP rights is essential for businesses of all sizes to differentiate their products, earn customer trust and grow their business. However, the process can be complex and time-consuming, leading to a lot of businesses dropping off along the way,” Amazon India Director (MSME and Selling Partner Experience) Pranav Bhasin said.

Dozens of high-traffic websites including the New York Times, CNN, Twitch, Reddit, and the UK government’s home page, could not be reached. San Francisco-based Fastly acknowledged a problem just before 1000 GMT. It said in repeated updates on its website that it was “continuing to investigate the issue.” According to Reuters, Amazon.com Inc’s retail website also seemed to face an outage. Amazon was not immediately available to comment.

Visitors trying to access CNN.com got a message that said: “Fastly error: unknown domain: cnn.com.” Attempts to access the Financial Times website turned up a similar message while visits to the New York Times and UK government’s gov.uk site returned an “Error 503 Service Unavailable“ message, along with the line “Varnish cache server,“ which is a technology that Fastly is built on.

Down Detector, which tracks internet outages, said: “Reports indicate there may be a widespread outage at Fastly, which may be impacting your service.”

In a detailed thread on Twitter, the Guardian’s UK technology correspondent Alex Hern wrote that the “massive internet outage” has been traced to a failure in a content delivery network (CDN) run by Fastly.”

His thread also notes that the the outage, which began shortly before 11am UK time, saw visitors to a vast array of sites receive error messages including “Error 503 Service Unavailable” and a terse “connection failure”. When we tried accessing CNN, we also get the 503 error.

According to Hern’s thread the problem can be traced to Fastly, which is a cloud computing services provider, and runs an “edge cloud that is supposed to speed up loading times for websites, protect them from denial-of-service attacks, and help them deal with bursts of traffic.”

On its status page, Fastly says the issue has been identified and a fix has been implemented. It adds that customers may experience increased origin load as global services return. The status page noted nearly an hour back that they are “currently investigating potential impact to performance with our CDN services.”

Amazon has launched its new video streaming service called miniTV. The service offers “professionally” created and curated content to the users. It has a variety of content like comedy shows, tech news, food, beauty, fashion and many more. It is entirely free of cost but the users will have to watch ads. It is available within the Amazon shopping app.

Amazon said in a blogspot,”With the launch of miniTV, Amazon.in shopping app is now a single destination for customers to shop from millions of products, make payments and watch free entertainment videos”. Currently the new service can only be accessed by the Android users. The iOS and the mobile web versions will also be released in the upcoming months.

The e-commerce website has partnered with the leading studios like TVF, Pocket Aces and the comedians like Ashish Chanchlani, Amit Bhadana, Prajakta Kohli, Elvish Yadav, Round2Hell, Harsh Beniwal, Akash Gupta and many more. The customers will also see contents on Tech, fashion and beauty.

The service also features a food section, which has videos from Kabita’s Kitchen, Cook with Nisha and Gobble. Amazon has promised many more exclusive new videos in the upcoming weeks. It is important to note that Amazon Prime and miniTv are entirely different platforms.

The company said,”miniTV is completely free and it does not require a separate app. Prime Video requires a Prime subscription and offers a collection of award-winning Amazon Originals, latest movies and TV shows, in English as well as 9 Indian languages. Viewers can access Prime Video on the app or stream it o their smart TVs.

How to access the service?

To access miniTV, the customer needs to open the Amazon app on their Android phone. Till now, there is no separate access option for the same. Once the user opens the Amazon app, he/she just needs to scroll down a bit to access the miniTV. Once it is spotted, the user needs to click on the miniTV and the user will be redirected to a new section which contains free web series and other contents.
