<p>&#8220;The (government) forces and officials have retreated to the airport,&#8221; Jawzjan deputy governor Qader Malia told AFP.</p>
<p>The city is home to notorious warlord Abdul Rashid Dostum, who only returned to Afghanistan this week from medical treatment in Turkey.</p>
<p>The Taliban have gained vast parts of rural Afghanistan since launching a series of offensives in May to coincide with the start of the final withdrawal of foreign troops.</p>
<p>On Friday, Zaranj city in Nimroz fell to the Taliban &#8220;without a fight&#8221;, according to its deputy governor, becoming the first provincial capital to be taken by the insurgents.</p>
<p>There was more resistance in Sheberghan, several sources told AFP, but an aide to Dostum confirmed the city had been taken.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Afghanistan&#8217;s Education Minister has said that a recent statement by the Director of Education in the capital Kabul is being investigated in which he said that songs of girls over 12 years of age have been banned in public.  .<br> This ban is being severely criticized on social media.  The girls shared video clips of their songs on social media with the hashtag #IAmMySong.<br> The case has come amid apprehensions over the outcome of a possible peace deal with the Taliban.<br> Almost two decades ago, most of the genres of education and music of girls were banned during the Taliban regime.<br> In Kabul, the statement of the Director of Education prohibits singing in school programs for girls of 12 years and above.  Also, there is a ban on older girls learning from male music teachers.</p>
