]]>According to a letter submitted by the CBI-led Special Investigation Team, senior TTD officials allegedly approved diluted tender norms without due diligence, weakening quality safeguards and compromising the standards of ghee procured by the temple body. The SIT described the lapses as deliberate omissions and failures in both the relaxation and enforcement of procurement conditions.
Finance Minister P Keshav said the Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has decided to treat all officials named in the SIT communication as guilty in the alleged ghee adulteration case. He stated that the actions of the officials directly resulted in a decline in procurement standards.
The SIT named O Balaji, Finance Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer, A V Dharma Reddy, former additional executive officer, and Anil Kumar Singhal, former executive officer, accusing them of approving tender conditions without proper application of mind. Y V Subba Reddy and several purchase committee members were also named in the report.
According to the investigation, diluted tender conditions allowed inefficient private dairies, including Bhole Baba Organic Dairy Milk Private Limited, Vyshnavi Dairy Specialities Private Limited and Malganga Milk and Agro Products Private Limited, to qualify for TTD tenders. These firms allegedly supplied adulterated ghee to the temple between 2020 and 2023.
Keshav said the SIT submitted an 11-page report to the state government, detailing how quality requirements were weakened, including lowering the minimum turnover eligibility for dairies from Rs 250 crore to Rs 150 crore and excluding experience in milk procurement as a qualifying criterion.
Although ghee procurement norms were strengthened in August 2019, the finance minister alleged that within five months, senior TTD officials proposed contradictory recommendations to relax those conditions and placed them before the purchase committee. The committee approved the relaxed norms in a meeting held on February 18, 2020, and the TTD board subsequently cleared them on February 29, 2020.
The Andhra Pradesh government claimed that the alleged adulteration occurred with the knowledge of TTD officials and committee members. Keshav alleged that Vyshnavi Dairy had not engaged in dairy operations for at least a year and had submitted forged documents to secure tenders.
He further accused the previous Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party government of suppressing a 2022 report by the Central Food Technological Research Institute, which reportedly detected beta-sitosterol in the ghee, indicating adulteration.
The Cabinet has now decided to constitute a short-term committee to examine whether additional administrative lapses occurred within the temple administration. Keshav said all concerned individuals would be given an opportunity to present their case before any further action is taken.
The state government is also seeking the opinion of the Advocate General on the matter. Responding to questions about claims that animal fats were used in the adulterated ghee during the previous government’s tenure, Keshav said the allegation was based on findings from the NDDB CALF report.

]]>Under the revived plan, water will be lifted from the Neeva branch canal and conveyed to the Kalyani dam through a dedicated channel. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the project on January 13 at the Moolapalle tank during his Sankranti visit to Naravaripalle.
Krishna waters have already reached Kuppam through the Handri Neeva Kuppam branch canal. In August 2025, the Chief Minister had announced the extension of the Neeva branch canal to additional regions, a promise that is now being implemented. The government has allocated Rs 126 crore for lifting water from the Neeva branch canal to the Kalyani dam.
The Handri Neeva main canal, with a total length of 554 kilometres, terminates at the Adavipalle reservoir in KV Palle mandal. From there, the Punganur and Kuppam branch canals diverge. The Neeva branch canal extends about 122 kilometres up to Chittoor and is designed to cater to both drinking water and irrigation needs, stabilising nearly 50,000 acres of ayacut.
At the 53 kilometre point of the Neeva branch canal, water will be lifted by around 10 metres and transported through a 33 kilometre long channel to the Kalyani dam. Along this route, water will also be supplied to tanks located at Kanithamadhugu, Kondareddikandriga, KR Kandriga, Nagapatla and Moolapalle in Chandragiri mandal, providing irrigation to about 1,150 acres. The system is designed to convey nearly 450 million cubic feet of water.
Originally proposed in 2014, the project was shelved following a change in government. It has now been revived by the present coalition government. Irrigation department officials said the scheme would become operational once water reaches the Adavipalle reservoir through the main canal.
Including canal resection, lining and lift infrastructure, the total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 1,329 crore. The government expects the work to be completed within two years.

]]>Makar Sankranti symbolises harmony between nature, solar worship and human life and holds a special place in Sanatan culture. This year, the festival will be observed on Thursday, January 15, although the Sun will enter Capricorn late on the night of January 14, which is considered the conclusion of Kharmas.
From January 15 onwards, auspicious activities other than marriage ceremonies may resume. Traditionally, Makar Sankranti is also celebrated as Khichdi Parv across many regions.
Pandits Dinesh Pandey, Vivekanand Pandey and Dhrup Pathak stated that the Sun will enter Capricorn from Sagittarius at 9.19 pm on Wednesday night, and therefore the festival will be observed on Thursday, January 15. According to scriptural rules, if Sankranti occurs after sunset or during the night, the auspicious observance is carried out the following day.
The Punyakal will remain valid on Thursday until 1.19 pm. Bathing during Kumbh Lagna, between 8.31 am and 10.02 am, is considered especially rewarding. During this period, bathing in holy rivers and donations are believed to bring spiritual merit. Items such as curd, flattened rice, black sesame seeds and blankets are considered auspicious for charity.
Khichdi will be prepared on Makar Sankranti this year. Pandits Vishwanath Tiwari and Vivekanand Pandey explained that the usual Thursday restriction on cooking khichdi does not apply on festival days. While khichdi is generally avoided on Thursdays, this distinction does not apply during special religious occasions, allowing devotees to celebrate Khichdi Parv on January 15.
Coincidentally, this year Makar Sankranti also falls on Til Dwadashi. According to belief, sesame seeds originated from Lord Vishnu on the Dwadashi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Magh, making sesame offerings particularly significant.
Although Kharmas ends on Makar Sankranti, wedding ceremonies will resume only from February 4. People awaiting the start of the marriage season will need to wait for another 20 days. Auspicious ceremonies such as weddings remain restricted until February 4 due to the setting of Venus. While Venus will rise on February 1, marriages are considered permissible only after its three day infancy period concludes.

The posters declared that a Ram temple similar to the Ayodhya structure would be constructed on a four bigha plot and invited local residents to contribute Re 1 each towards the initiative. This development follows the recent foundation laying of a Babri Masjid styled mosque by suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir in Rejinagar, Murshidabad, on December 6, the anniversary of the 1992 demolition. The event was held under tight security.
On the same day, the BJP organised a separate ceremony in Manindra Nagar of Banjatiya, also in Murshidabad, where groundwork for a Ram temple was initiated. Local leaders used the occasion to criticise Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for what they described as appeasement politics. With Salt Lake entering the political arena, the confrontation has moved closer to the administrative hub of the state, intensifying the symbolic significance of the ongoing contest.
Speaking to reporters, Poyra described the temple initiative as a social and spiritual movement inspired by the concept of Ram Rajya.

डॉ. सिंह बताते हैं कि शिव को देवों का देव महादेव कहा जाता है। वेदों में इन्हें रूद्र नाम से पुकारा गया है। अब आपको कुछ ऐसे काम बताते है, जिन्हे सावन में करने से भगवान शिव प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं जैसे सावन के महीने में शिवलिंग की पूजा की जाती है, लिंग सृष्टि का आधार है और शिव विश्व कल्याण के देवता है। शिवलिंग से दक्षिण दिशा में ही बैठकर पूजन करने से मनोकामना पूर्ण होती है। शिवलिंग पूजा में दक्षिणा दिशा में बैठकर करके साथ भक्त को भस्म का त्रिपुण्ड लगाना चाहिए, रूद्राक्ष की माला पहननी चाहिए और बिना कटेफटे हुये बिल्वपत्र अर्पित करने चाहिए।
शिवलिंग की कभी पूरी परिक्रमा नहीं करनी चाहिए; आधी परिक्रमा करना ही शुभ होता है।
सावन में शिव की पूजा का वैज्ञानिक कारण (Sawan Ka Scientific Reason)
स्कूल ऑफ मैनेजमेंट साइंसेज, लखनऊ के निदेशक डा. भरत राज सिंह का कहना है कि शिव ब्रह्माण्ड की शक्ति के द्योतक हैं। शिव लिंग काले पत्थर का ही होता है, जो वातावरण व ब्रह्माण्ड से ऊर्जा अवशोषित करता रहता है। इस ऊर्जा को पूर्ण रूप से शिवलिंग में समाहित करने के लिए इसको साफ सुथरा रखने व जल, दूध आदि से अभिषेक करने की प्रथा शुरू हुई हैं, जिससे पूजा अर्चना के समय आप को उपयुक्त ऊर्जा प्राप्त हो और प्रदूषित ऊर्जा समाप्त हो जाए। वह बताते हैं कि सावन का महीना ऐसा होता है जब बरसात से मौसम का एक माह से ज्यादा समय गुजर चुका होता है, उसके बाद मौसम में नमी व काफी सुहावनापन आ जाता है। बरसात के मौसम में शुरु के एक महीने में वातावरण में मौजूद विषाक्त गैसे व कार्बन आदि धरती पर पानी के कणों के साथ आ जाते हैं और अक्सर स्त्रियों व बच्चों में त्वचा सम्बन्धी रोग उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं। इन रोगों को दूर करने हेतु ही सावन में औरतो द्वारा शिवलिंग पर अभिषेक (जल, दूध, घी, शहद आदि) से किया जाता है जिससे त्वचा रोग के जर्म भी शिव लिंग में अवशेषित होकर उनके शरीर के बैक्टीरिया भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं और औरतें निरोगी हो जाती हैं तथा शिवलिंग से अच्छी ऊर्जा ग्रहण करती हैं।
