She explained that most offers she received in the past were focused on her looks rather than her talent.
The actress said that Hindi filmmakers struggled to see her in non-glamorous roles because they had not followed her Punjabi work. She added that this perception delayed her Bollywood debut, as directors often doubted her ability to handle emotionally demanding characters.
Sonam expressed disappointment with the film industry’s habit of stereotyping actors based on their appearance or social media image. She recalled that even when she was open to auditioning for challenging roles, some filmmakers refused to test her because they were already convinced she couldn’t deliver such performances.
Reflecting on her latest film, Sonam said that Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat finally gave her a role that allowed her to showcase her full potential as an actor. She described the experience as a breakthrough after years of being underestimated by the Hindi film industry.
A leading name in Punjabi cinema, Sonam Bajwa has starred in several hit films, including Punjab 1984, Sardaar Ji 2, Nikka Zaildar, Manje Bistre, Carry On Jatta 2, Ardab Mutiyaran, and Honsla Rakh. She has also made her entry into mainstream Bollywood with appearances in Housefull 5 and Baaghi 4.

]]>The Palestinian model shared screenshots of their conversation on Instagram where Vanessa not only put the blame of terrorism in Gaza on Palestinian victims but also attacked the model’s Muslim faith. Her message read, “Maybe if your people were educated then they wouldn’t blow up hospitals and schools that Israel helped to pay for in Gaza.”
She added, “I think it’s funny that you’re a model because in reality, that is against what the Muslim faith believes in and if you were to come out of the closet in any Muslim country, you would be stoned to death.”
Soon after the social media users started trending hashtags like #BoycottZara and #ZaraMustApologise. Tagging Zara many users tweeted to condemn the fast-fashion brand’s complicity with the racist and Islamophobic comments made by the designer and soon enough, screenshots of the conversation gained exposure across Twitter. One wrote, “Dear @Zara, Your head designer’s anti-Palestinian & Islamophobic tirade is sheer racism How will you respond — especially since billions of Muslims shop at your stores globally? (sic)”, another asserted, “just in case anyone missed what Zara’s head of design or whatever she is said. It’s MUCH WORSE than the one part going around and the fashion industry at all levels needs to take a hard look at themselves and the racist xenophobic beliefs that are so apparent (sic)” and yet another condemned, “Wow @ZARA …maybe follow the reality more closely. Sushant Singh Rajput died last year on June 14, in what the Mumbai Police initially ruled a suicide. Later on, the case got handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation, with the Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau probing the financial and drugs-related angles in the case., Sushant’s father filed an FIR accusing Rhea of abetment of suicide and money laundering. Rhea was jailed for almost a month in September 2020. She was released on bail in October.
