Garhwal MP Tirath Singh Rawat will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand today. Last evening, due to the ongoing political politics for the last several days, Trivendra Singh Rawat submitted his resignation to the Governor Baby Rani Maurya. In the Legislature Party meeting convened at the BJP office this morning, Tirath Singh Rawat’s name was stamped as the new Chief Minister. In the meeting, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and in-charge of Uttarakhand Raman Singh, Ramesh Pokhriyal, besides Acting Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, State Adhyaksh Banshidar Bhagat, other BJP MPs and MLAs were present.
Let us know that from February 2013 to December 2015, Tirath Singh Rawat was taking charge as the state president of Uttarakhand BJP. He is a former MLA (2012-2017) from Chaubattakhal. Currently Tirath Singh Rawat is the national secretary of BJP as well as MP from Garhwal Lok Sabha. In addition to the BJP candidate from Pauri seat, he was also made the election in-charge of Himachal Pradesh in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Tirath Singh Rawat was elected the first Education Minister of newly formed Uttarakhand in the year 2000. After this, in 2007, Bharatiya Janata Party was elected the state general secretary of Uttarakhand. He was then the state election officer and the state membership chief. 2013 Uttarakhand was the Chairman of the Divine Disaster Management Advisory Committee.
Sources say that yet another Tirath Singh Rawat is a right choice for the post of Chief Minister. What sets him apart is that he is not identified by any faction in the Uttarakhand BJP.
