Nepal received a consignment of 10 lakh doses of Kovid-19 vaccine Covishield purchased from Serum Institute of India. This will help the country to deal with the corona virus epidemic. Sources at the Indian High Commission in Kathmandu said an Air India aircraft carrying the Covid-19 vaccine landed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday morning. The Government of Nepal has decided to purchase a total of 2 million doses of the vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute. Last month, India provided one million doses of the Covishield vaccine to Nepal for free. The Government of Nepal has started vaccination of health workers, security personnel and journalists. India is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world. India has launched a large-scale corona vaccination campaign, in which vaccines are being administered to frontline healthworkers across the country with two vaccines, Covishield and Covaxine. The Covishield vaccine of Oxford-AstraZeneca is being manufactured by the Serum Institute and is being manufactured by Bharat Biotech. The Ministry of External Affairs said that it is being ensured that domestic manufacturers have sufficient stocks to meet domestic requirements while supplying to foreign countries.
