A 19-year-old man from Haryana has been arrested by the Mumbai Police on charges of making fake tweets in connection with a bomb blast at some of the city’s multiplexes (cinemas with multiple screens). A police officer gave this information on Monday.He said that the information about the bomb blast written in the tweet was fake. He said that the name of the accused is Banwari Singh and he had tweeted on 22 January and tagged the Mumbai Police and the Commissioner of Police in it. The accused had tweeted from a Twitter handle named ‘Commando Singh’ in which he wrote that there will be blasts at seven multiplexes in Malad and Andheri and Vasai in Palghar district where the Hindi film “Madam Chief Minister” is being screened.
The officer said that after getting information about the tweet from the police, he conducted inquiries at various multiplexes which revealed that the things written in the tweet were fake and incorrect. Meanwhile, the accused deleted the tweet. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Rashmi Karandikar said that the police registered a case and the cyber cell started looking for the accused.
He said that the accused was caught from Haryana. Another officer said that the police also seized the mobile phone from which the accused tweeted. He said that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections.
