US President Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in the recently concluded presidential elections. In this way, Trump became the fourth President after World War II who could not win the election for a second term while being the current President.
Former US President George H. W. Bush, popularly known as Senior Bush, failed to save his chair in the 1992 presidential elections. He lost this election to Bill Clinton of the Democratic Party. However, after two terms of eight years, Clinton was tasted of defeat by Sr. Bush’s son George W. Bush. The Bush father-son duo is the second pair in American history to have held the presidency.

Senior Bush’s term is remembered for the disintegration of the Soviet Union as well as the end of the Cold War.
Former US President Jimmy Carter, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his dedication to human rights, also failed to save his throne for the second time in a row. He suffered a heavy defeat in the 1980 election from Republican candidate Ronald Reagan. He got only 49 electoral votes while his rival Reagan got 489 votes.

Carter’s tenure is known for recognizing the People’s Republic of China (Main China), a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt.US President Richard Nixon was forced to leave the throne after being named in the Watergate scandal. Gerald Ford then became the 38th President of the US. Gerald Ford, who became president without contesting the presidential election, lost to Jimmy Carter in the 1976 presidential election. The 32nd President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who drove the US and the world out of the Great Depression in the 1930s before World War II, won four presidential elections. He remained in the same post till his death in the year 1945. He is the only person in the history of America to hold the presidency for so long.
