About 7500 students belonging from Uttar Pradesh are staying in hostels and paying guest accommodations in Kota city, famous for its coaching centers especially for engineering and medical aspirants.

The government of Uttar Pradesh on Friday sent 250 buses to Kota, Rajesthan to bring back around 7500 students stuck there due to ongoing countrywide lockdown. The UP government’s step got praised by Chief Minister of Rajesthan, Ashok Gehlot who said that other state governments should also ensure the return of the students stranded in the coaching city during the lockdown, and assure their safe return home.

“As the UP govt called back students of UP living in #Kota #Rajasthan, it can also be done for students from other states. Students in Kota can be sent to their home states on the consent of the concerned state govt so that these young boys & girls do not panic or feel depressed,”

CM Gehlot Tweeted on Friday.

The students couldn’t reach back home and were stuck in Kota, since the nationwide lockdown was imposed last month to contain the spread of COVID-19, the students have been anxious to get back to their homes in different states.

A campaign on the social media, called #SendUsBackHome was started on Tuesday by the stuck students here amidst the pandemic, following which the UP government decided to send around 250 buses to bring the approximately 7500 students hailing from the state to their families, officials said.
