Over 16,000 confirmed cases were reported in a single day in the US as the total number of COVID-19 patients soared to 85,088 edging out Italy and China. The United States surpassed China (81,285) and Italy (80,589) in terms of number of people infected with the novel Corona virus. A week ago, the number of confirmed cases was 8,000 in US. It has dangerously surged 10 times in the span of a week.
Worldwide, the number of confirmed Corona virus cases surpassed 500,000.
160 million Americans have been ordered to stay home as schools are closed, restaurants and bars have been closed in hope of the curtail spread of the lethal virus, The New York Times reported.
