Nitin Nabin was elected unopposed as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday, marking a unanimous decision within the party leadership.
K Laxman, who served as the returning officer for the election, said Nabin was the sole candidate for the post of BJP national president. He added that a total of 37 sets of nomination papers were submitted in support of Nabin’s candidature.
According to Laxman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the proposers who backed Nitin Nabin for the top organisational position. He also confirmed that all the nomination papers filed in his favour were scrutinised and found to be valid, clearing the way for his unopposed election.
