A 37-year-old woman has been arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly killing her eight-year-old daughter by throwing her from the fourth floor of a residential building, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon within the jurisdiction of the Malkajgiri police station and resulted in the immediate death of the child, a police official confirmed.
According to preliminary findings, the woman, who is employed in the private sector, had been experiencing severe mental distress following continuous arguments with family members, since Sunday night. Investigators said that amid the ongoing dispute, she took her daughter to the fourth floor of the building on Monday and allegedly pushed her.
Police have registered a case of murder and stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities said the accused woman is being questioned and her mental condition is also being assessed as part of the probe.
