Donations for the Babri Masjid-style mosque proposed by suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir in Murshidabad have climbed to nearly ₹3 crore, according to his aides on Tuesday.
Kabir had laid the foundation stone for the mosque on Saturday at Rejinagar in Murshidabad district. As part of the fundraising effort, twelve donation boxes were installed at the site.
So far, an estimated ₹57 lakh has been counted from the physical donation boxes, while an additional ₹2.47 crore has been collected through QR-code payments.
One donation box continues to remain at the foundation site for those wishing to make further contributions.
