It was a shocking announcement when Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently announced that any traders caught avoiding GST payments would face arrest. The dramatic warning came at a press conference held in New Delhi where he linked the enforcement of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) with the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

His stern message to the traders was a sign of the government’s determination to ensure compliance with the GST law. He said that the ED had been instructed to take action against those who were evading payment of taxes and that traders should pay the GST or face the consequences.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the fact that evasion of taxes was a serious offence, punishable with jail time and a hefty fine. He appealed to traders to pay their taxes in full, as the government was doing its best to make the process easier. He said that the government had created a simple and transparent system for paying taxes and that traders should take advantage of it.

The Chief Minister also warned that the government would take strict action against those who were found to be evading payment of taxes. He said that the government had deployed teams of officers to monitor GST compliance and that any suspicious activity would be investigated.

The Chief Minister’s announcement was welcomed by many traders, who appreciated the government’s efforts to ensure compliance with the GST law. They said that the government had made it easier for them to pay their taxes and that they were willing to comply with the law.

It is clear that the Delhi government is determined to ensure compliance with the GST law and will take strict action against those who are found to be evading payment of taxes. It is hoped that the Chief Minister’s warning will act as a deterrent and traders will pay their taxes in full.
