As the COVID-19 curfew in Bengal is coming to an end, the Supreme Court stated it could not accept that only 27 youngsters had been orphaned. It warned the state against presenting “unacceptable” statistics and said it may order an investigation if the right figures are not supplied. It cautioned the Bengal administration that this is an issue of child’s needs and could not be construed as a problem with the center.
It was during an inquiry into how to ensure the safety and security of students whose families had died, either due to COVID-19 or even during lockdown times, that the court’s angry reaction was delivered.
