A 24-year-old pregnant woman in Thiruvananthapuram has been hospitalised after she tested positive for Zika virus.The Zika virus was detected in her blood sample. Kerala has officially confirmed its first case of Zika virus – a mosquito borne viral infection. The condition of the woman is stable. She delivered on july 7. The patient was diagnosed and hospitalised at KIMS, said the doctor.
Samples of 13 persons, suspected to be positive Zika virus, have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune.
The symptoms of Zika virus include fever, skin, rashes, headaches, joint pain.
Currently, there is no vaccine or cure for Zika virus.
