The Union Health Ministry said on Sunday that the online appointments which have already been booked for the second dose of the Covishield vaccine will remain valid and will not be cancelled. Adding to this, the government advised the beneficiaries their appointments for a later date after 84th day from the date of 1st dose of the vaccination.

The clarification came after reports came out that people who had already booked their appointment for the second dose in less than 84 days online on CoWIN are being returned back from the vaccination centres without getting the second dose.

The union health ministry said in a statement,”The requisite changes have now been done in the CoWIN digital portal. As a result, further online or on-site appointments will not be possible if the period after 1st dose date for a beneficiary is less than 84 days”.

The union health ministry also said that as for the beneficiaries who have already booked an appointment for the second dose of the vaccine  even if the period for him/her is less than 84 days, COWIN system will allow the vaccination of such beneficiaries.
