“While appreciating the invitation to the Prime Minister by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to attend the G7 Summit as a special invitee, given the prevailing COVID situation, it has been decided that the Prime Minister will not attend the G7 Summit in person,” MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.

Although India is not a a member of the G7 grouping, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had sent out a special invite for the Indian Prime Minister to attend the summit. The summit is scheduled for 11-13 June in Cornwall, UK. The G7 comprises of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and the United States.
